Sheepdog Prayer for Manhood
If you stand up against danger, you are a sheepdog. If you prey on the innocent, you are a wolf. If you are innocent but require protection from others, you are a sheep. What are you?
“If not me, then who?” - Step up, no one is coming to save you.
“Not if, but when” - Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
“Read to lead” - Don’t proclaim yourself as a leader, be one.
“The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle.” - Train hard.
“Think slow, act fast” - Mentally walk through scenarios and scripts.
“Get comfortable being uncomfortable” - Forge resilience and eat frogs.
“Technology is a tool but it can’t think for us.” - Develop intuition.
“Become a warrior in the garden, not a gardener in a war.” - Practice martial arts with purpose.
Find your “fellow-feeling” - Love and develop empathy like Teddy Roosevelt
Prayer for Manhood
Lord I accept your assignment to me as a man. You have called me to be a man and I whole heartedly accept that. Lord you have saved me and you have written my name in the book of life. Lord help me represent you and help me be salt and follow your light. Lord help me be gentle, kind, tactful, merciful, and grateful in all that I do. Lord help me show firmness, strength, determination, and fiery passion. Lord help me be a leader and only a follower of Christ. Lord give me one step everyday and give me the wisdom and discernment to know it is a step towards you. Lord keep me from this world, deliver me from the temptations of this world, and free from the sins of my heart. Lord help me be tender with my wife, my children, my peers, and be tough with anyone and anything who would harm women and children. May I fear you forever and more than any many and help me be consistent in worshipping you Lord.
